CAN U DIG IT UPDATE 2.0.2 AVAILABLE

We are excited to announce that Can U Dig It (CUDI) has been upgraded and is now available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store! CUDI provides accurate and real-time updates to shellfish openings and closures consistent with Department Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) updates.

The new version of CUDI fixes a previous issue we had with displaying partial shellfish openings, which was caused by an unannounced change in the structure of our data source, SHELLI. SHELLI is a web map interface provided by DFO that displays data on the openings and closures of harvesting areas for bivalve shellfish. We depend on SHELLI to be a stable source for this data, and when this change happened, we had to quickly build some good solutions. To ensure that we can anticipate and be ready for any future changes to the structure of the data source, our development team has made important connections with the SHELLI team. Collaborations between the SHELLI team and our agile development team is another exciting opportunity for QARS to serve its Indigenous communities and beyond with valuable and safe shellfish harvesting information.

We are continuing to improve and build additional features to CUDI, such as multiple language support and opening and closure notifications directly to your app. To stay up to date on CUDI updates and news, sign up for our newsletter and follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Happy Digging!
