JOB OPPORTUNITY: ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN

Halalt First Nation is looking to recruit an Environmental Technician to work with field crews this spring and summer in the Koksilah and Chemainus river watersheds.


They will assist with aquatic ecosystem monitoring and assessment projects within Halalt First Nation's traditional territory. Responsibilities will include field survey implementation, field equipment operations and maintenance, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will have prior training or experience working in the field, particularly aquatic (freshwater and marine) environments and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Quw’utsun Nation members or members of other Indigenous communities are strongly encouraged to apply.


This position is primarily field-based, with some office-based work. The Environmental Technician may be required to work in adverse weather, demonstrate flexibility with work hours, including weekends and evenings, in support of field program implementation and to participate in community engagement activities.


The anticipated start date is March - April 2026.


The successful candidate will be offered a 3-6-month contract; ongoing work will depend on funding availability. Wage: $23-26/hour (depending on education and experience).
