UPCOMING INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE AND MARINE DATA GOVERNANCE WORKSHOP

Q'ul-lhanumutsun Aquatic Resources Society and the Island Marine Aquatic Working Group are collaborating to host our first Indigenous Knowledge and Marine Data Governance Workshop open to all members of either organization.

This workshop will be facilitated by ‘wi’la’mola Consulting and Trailmark Systems at Tigh-na-mara on June 29, 2023 from 9 AM to 4:30 PM. Online attendance is available for those who can’t make it in person.

Together we will discuss marine data and knowledge sharing, access, and protection, and our current technical tools. We will also learn from each other about QARS and IMAWG member Indigenous Knowledge Projects and Project planning, and hear about challenges and concerns. Let’s collaborate on ways to fulfill and enhance the principles of data sovereignty on an individual Nation vs. a regional level!

All attendees will be eligible to attend a two-day training course on the use of their knowledge management software according to their needs, including support in developing data sharing and access control processes.

Registration is limited to QARS and IMAWG members. Please get in touch if you have any questions or to inquire about registration. Space is limited.
